Darkthrone - The Underground Resistance (Release: February 25th, 2013)

And so we wait in eager anticipation for the 15th long player by the almighty Darkthrone, 'The Underground Resistance'. Epic metal laden soundscapes promising to deliver a contemporary NWOBHM opus, wrenched from a temporal wormhole that travels back to a golden era of progressive hard rock/heavy metal  (or something like that but with a whole lot more. And really how the fuck will I actually know till I've listened to it, eh?). I can't fucking wait!!!

Darkthrone - The Underground Resistance (2013)

1.   Dead Early
2.   Valkyrie
3.    Lesser Men
4.   The Ones You Left Behind
5.   Come Warfare, the Entire Doom
6.    Leave No Cross Unturned

And here's a promo poster I found randomly, but the same thing is basically here on the Peaceville site...

Deathhammer - Onward to the Pits (2012)

Ahhhhh Norway's Deathhammer, what can I say? Damn good mid 80's style thrash; finger blistering riffs, mad vocals and all done with testicles of fire energy. Pretty much the product of two thrashophiles,  Sergeant Salsten (bass, guitar, vocals) and Sadomancer (drums, backing vocals) who have done their Destruction/Kreator homework and then regurgitated that essence from 2005 to present . From what I have gathered, people have loved their earlier shit while still liking the new. Personally I love all their releases and their latest 'Onward to the Pits' is another great documentation of hell to add to their diabolical list of shenanigans. I must admit I piss myself every time Sergeant Salsten's voice cracks into an fiendish scream. I'm not mocking you dude, its fucken awesome. So banshee cracking praise to the mighty Deathhammer!

Read how the boys feel about their latest effort in this interview with Sadomancer, conduted by Ave Noctum here...

Repugnant - Epitome of Darkness (2006)

Fuck you Sweden!!! How do these fuckers produce soooo much good shit! I'm flabbergasted by the degree of musical excellence that manifests in the metal, punk and hard rock scenes of this country. Notably Death Metal in which Sweden has carved its own niche or rather niches. So without further ado, behold the mighty Repugnant!!!! Tales of horror infused in a style reminiscent of an early 90's feel with an 80's attitude, this shit rules! Their long player 'Epitome of Darkness' gives me a similar feeling to that of Death Breath outings in terms of subject matter but this is a lot more psycho spazz. This shit is also funny as fuck with such wondrous titles as 'Eating from a Coffin' (sicknutts track) that make this album freaking entertaining, like did I just hear a "yee-ha" come out of the speakers (track 3. Voices of the Dead)?! FUCKING GENIUS!!!

I got onto this band cos' I've been obsessing about Vampire (Swe) (see earlier post) and needed more grave juice so these guys are now the next thing for me. The opening track 'Hungry are the Damned' was a good stepping stone to consume the rest of this album which leaves some nice stinky chunks between the teeth. So anyway apparently this band is "on-hold" which is a bit of a turdmuncher, would like to see some more sacrilegious dirt from this band in the nearest future, but till then...

Vinyl from Hell's Headbangers...

Ghost - Secular Haze (2012)

The much talked about Ghost from Sweden and indeed it is warranted. The mystery surrounding this band is becoming even more so with the immanent release of their follow up to 2010's Opus Eponymous, the much anticipated Infestissumam (releasing European Spring of 2013). In the mean time The Nameless Ghouls lead by Papa Emeritus' successor, the aptly named Papa Emeritus II have unleashed the first track 'Secular Haze' from their new album to pleasure our audible needs as a free download here. You need to provide your email and then there will be a link in your inbox to the .zip file to which you can download the combined (zipped)  mp3 and wave formats OR you just download the .rar files I've made and split from this blog as just an mp3 (much smaller) or the above mentioned combo (see below for mediafire links).

As for the track itself, its brilliant, beautiful and menacing. I do love this bands work. Very smart instrumental arrangements and melodies that will hook you and reel you into the mythos that is Ghost.

Vampire - Vampire (demo) (2012)

HOLY FUCK!!! I think this may well be my favourite release of 2012! I just can't seem to get enough of these this 3 track gem. It's like walking down a dark hallway and then you get this creepy feeling that some scary as fuck thing is about to grab you from behind and although it defies your logic, you run anyway...this is what this band does to me and its FUCKING EXCELLENT!!!

Oh yeah, so its like old thrash/black metal with an almost garage rock dirty thing goin' on layered with punchy grim az fvck vocals, I dunno it bloody works and I WANT MORE!!!

Buy their demo dammit!!! Throw money at these bastards so they can produce a whole album of this genius.
They've sold out of tapes (not surprisingly) but the digital version is well worth it, here at Bandcamp. Its fuck all! Only 15 sek, so don't be a tight arse and fork the fuck out!

Dodheimsgard - Kronet Til Konge (1995)

This is still my favourite Black Metal album from the Second Wave that sprang forth from Norway in the early to mid-nineties. Its just so fucking epic!!! The vocals of Aldrahn embodies the conviction of a Satanic High Priest at some dark arse ritual while he guts some baby goats to appease some demon. And you've got good ol' Fenriz on bass of course. I wish I had this on vinyl but its a rare mutha fuckah in at least 3 different prints (saw one on eBay for 99 bucks US in red, its tempting). One can get the picture disc LP from Osmose Productions here. I did however get the CD years ago and I still cherish it and I just got a t shirt via the German distro ebay store, Fullmoon...so that's how obsessed I've been so far...

It should be noted that this is a very different band from even the following album Monumental Possession (1996) which has the awesome dude, Apollyon from the mighty Aura Noir joining the band at this point on guitar and some vocals. The band later became known more simply as DHG and after I heard 666 International (1999) they lost me...anyway the Kronet Til Konge lineup is the fucken bomb!!!
